Augustus (63 B.C - A.D 14)
After the rise of the Roman Empire, and the Roman republic was destroyed, there was a following of a new dictartorship. Augustus was the sole heir that became the new emperor of Rome, after Julius Ceasar stated in his will that Augustus, also known as Octavian, was going to inherit the property and title of Julius Ceasar's throne.
The Arch of Constantine (A.D 312)
Suitated in between the Colosseum and the Palantine Hill, stands the Arch of Constantine. This triumphal arch was used to commemorate the victory over the numerically superior army, Maxentius. To celebrate the victory of Constantine's victory at the Battle of Milvian Bridge, the Roman Senate wanted to reward them with an extravagant piece of architecture.
Roman Religion
The Romans believed that if they appeased their gods and goddesses, the
divinities would help them by blessing the crops to make them fertile or by
watching over the family to keep them safe. The Romans also believed that when they angered or disobeyed the gods they would be punished severely.
